Entering a competition for new shopping facilities gave us an opportunity to think about a very large complex building and to search innovative suitable distributions. At first we designed a triangular building around a cloyster, and eventually developed the 'cell' scheme. The two schemes are not so different as it may seem. Since a supermarket acts as a living cell - through which people, cars and good are constantly moving - why should not its layout take this into account? This is actually a cell - the supermarket itself and the winter garden being its nuclei, and the shops being the cell walls. Trucks plug in the cell radially before unloading their goods. Customers' car parking is below the shops.
